Question 1-5

Hey guys, welcome back to my blog. Today, I'd like to answer some of the questions I listed on the earlier posts about climate change. The questions i'll be answering will be number 1-5.

1. Climate change is caused from out human activities. The greenhouse gases we emit warms our earth since it prevents the escape of heat radiating from Earth to space. The gases categorized as greenhouse gas are carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane, and nitrous oxide. Carbon dioxide is released through natural processes such as respiration and volcano eruptions and through human activities such as deforestation and burning fossil fuels. Water vapor is the most abundant greenhouse gas. It increases as Earth's atmosphere warms. Methane is produced through both natural sources and human activities: decomposition of wastes in landfills, cow gas emission, ruminant digestion, and agriculture, to name a few. Nitrous oxide is a powerful greenhouse gas produced through cultivation practices such as organic fertilizers and fossil fuel combustion.

2. What can we do to prevent climate change?

There are a countless number of things we can do to prevent climate change. The first thing anyone can start with is to learn about it and spread the knowledge to the people around you. though climate change has become well known compared to the last decade, we still need to speak up and encourage others to protect our earth. The next thing we can do is to use renewable energy. It may cost money to change your power source, however, this can greatly reduce fossil fuels, which are deadly to the environment. Another possible way is to shop-stop. People tend to buy too many things that they eventually won't consume, such as food. When we throw rotten food away, the energy that was used to grow the good will be wasted.

3. What is our current situation?

Humans have raised the carbon dioxide concentration by 48% since the Industrial Revolution began, which is the most important long-lived "forcing" of climate change. Changes in our lifestyle warmed our earth. As a result, wild animals are facing challenges of survival since sea levels are rising and oceans are becoming warmer. Intense droughts, storms, heat waves, and melting glaciers are also destroying the animals' habitats. Humans are also suffering from heat waves and wildfires.

4. How does recycling help the environment?

Recycling saves resources, energy, helps protect the environment, and reduces incineration. When we recycle, used materials transforms into new products, and by doing so, it helps conserve important raw materials and protects natural habitats. Moreover, since it reduces the need of extracting, it prevents substantial air and water pollution.

5. What will the world be like in the next century if our situation doesn't change?

It is difficult to predict our future in issues that still has unknown areas. However, we can expect a warmer atmosphere, a more acidic ocean, higher sea levels, and large change in climate. These effects will cause an extinction of multiple species, such as those living in the north pole.

Perspective of Greta Thunberg

Hi, my name is Greta Thunberg. I am an 18-year-old Swedish environmental activist challenging world leaders to take immediate action for climate change mitigation.  When I first learned about climate change at school, I wasn't just shocked to hear that our planet is destructing from human activities, but also shocked that no one is standing up for this issue, That is why I started with what I can do, which was to become vegan, stop flying, have a shop stop, and communicate what is happening, putting pressure on people in power.  When I was 15, I skipped school on Fridays to protest outside parliament for more action against climate change. I should have been in school, spending time studying. Yet, I had to protest, in the sake of our future.  We are in the midst of the sixth mass extinction. Our leaders need to start acting accordingly. We will not let you get away with this, this is where we draw the line to prevent climate change.

Perspective of Jair Bolsanaro

Hi my name is Jair Bolsanaro, and I am the current president of Brazil. I was elected in 2018, and this is my third year pursuing my duty. I simply do not care about climate change. Journalists criticize me for destructing Amazon rainforest, but as long as countries don't give us money, we do not know what will happen to the Amazon. I am only interested in using the climate to extort money. The Amazon is ours, not yours.
